Jefferson, Wisconsin is a quaint Wisconsin community. Main Street shows off its vintage buildings and steepled churches built by German craftsmen. Two picturesque rivers flow through the middle of town. Our rivers will be a focal point for visitors and residents, so they can float up and catch a concert, meal and even camp along the riverbank. We know what we have is special, because people from big cities keep moving here. It’s also because we’re close by, comfortable, easygoing, hardworking, genuine and fun loving. ABSENTEE VOTING FOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
IN PERSON ABSENTEE VOTING in the Clerk’s Office begins OCTOBER 22, 2024. The City Hall Office is open from 8 AM – 5 PM. Please allow 15 minutes for the absentee process. Wait times to vote absentee in person will increase closer to the election. Last day to vote absentee IN OFFICE is November 1st, 2024.
HOW DO I REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT?
You can request an absentee ballot online, by mail, or in person.
- Online. You may request an absentee ballot online by visiting myvote.wi.gov and clicking “Vote Absentee By Mail.” This request must be made no later than 5pm on the Thursday before the election. (October 30th)
- By Mail. Download the application, complete the form, and mail it to your municipal clerk’s office. The application must be received no later than 5pm on the Thursday before the election. (October 30th)
- In Person. You may vote early in person – at the clerk’s office or another site designated by the clerk. (October 22-November 1)
If you have not previously provided a copy of your photo ID, your photo ID must accompany your application. Military and permanent overseas voters do not need to provide a photo ID with their request.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BY MAIL?
The last day to request an absentee ballot is 5 days before the election. – October 30th, 2024 5pm.
WHEN ARE ABSENTEE BALLOTS MAILED OUT TO VOTERS WHO HAVE REQUESTED THEM?
Absentee ballots are mailed 3 weeks before local (spring) elections and 47 days before national (fall) elections.

You can sign up to track your absentee ballot on the My Vote Wisconsin website.
ELECTION FAQs
How do I register to vote?
You can register to vote in the Nov. 5 election online or by mail until Oct. 16. After that date, registering to vote must take place in person at your municipal clerk’s office (for CITY of Jefferson residents – 317 South Main Street) through Nov. 1, or on Election Day at your voting site.
All voters must provide a proof of residence document when registering to vote. Examples of proof of residence documents include a current driver’s license or state ID, a utility bill, a paystub or a bank statement.
Important dates for registering to vote in Wisconsin:
- Oct. 16: Last chance to register by mail or online. Visit myvote.wi.gov to register or find a person’s municipal clerk’s address.
- Nov. 1: Last chance to register to vote in municipal clerk’s office.
- Nov. 5: Election day. Register to vote at your polling place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

YOUR DRINKING WATER
Jefferson Water Utility will no longer be adding fluoride to the public water system. There is naturally occurring fluoride of .3 parts per million in the water system. If you have a child between the ages of 6 months and 5 years you should contact your physician or dentist regarding fluoride alternatives.
